T O P I C R E V I E WmicropoozArticle in today's (10/26) Washington Post that the Boston University trustees committee "has urged the school's governing board to reconsider it's choice of former NASA chief Dan Goldin as the university's next president. Several members of the Board of Trustees committee now believe Goldin does not have the temperament to lead the 30,000-student university..." Should fuel some interesting debate here...ScottTrue story: I ran into Golden one time at JSC and asked where the auditorium was. He had no clue. Didn't know where Mars was either. Poor kids.Leon FordI have never seen any public comments that Dan Goldin has made about the Columbia crash. It seems that most of the problems that the Columbia commission found with NASA came about during his administration. Has he made any public comments? I would like to read them. Thanks,Leoneurospace quote:Originally posted by Leon Ford:I have never seen any public comments that Dan Goldin has made about the Columbia crash. Larry McGlynnThe BU trustees have issued a vote of no confidence. One of the reasons given, according to the Boston Globe on Saturday, is that Goldin was not getting along with John Silber, the former president and current president emeritus. I would have enjoyed that meeting between the two of them. If you think Goldin is tough. John Silber once ran for the Governor of Massachusetts. He lost at the last minute, because he was so mean to a well known and well loved local female news anchor that he made her cry on TV. Silber is a man who does not suffer fools gladly.Evidently, Goldin was planning to freeze Silber out of power and the BU Board is not happy with that. I figure Silber got the board to bend to his will. There can only be one president. The interesting thing is when having a discussion with former NASA employees, who are now professors at MIT, was how much they despised Goldin. They feel very sorry for their brethern who are now at the Phototonics Lab at BU.That is the story, so far. There is more to come.Larry McGlynn [This message has been edited by Larry McGlynn (edited October 27, 2003).]RodinaSeems to me under Goldin, we got more support for unmanned spaceflight and less support for the Shuttle/ISS bureaucomplex... so that's fine by my accounting.
Should fuel some interesting debate here...
Thanks,
Leon
